- Bouncing Ball: (Text:What’s Different About Teaching Reading to Students Learning English, pg. 145) Form circles of 4-6 individuals. Get a bag of candy (don’t open it yet). One person begins by saying a word feature listed on the slide, and then tosses the candy bag to someone else in the circle. That person says a different word with the same characteristic and throws the candy on. Continue around across the circle. Use categories rhyming words (hot) 2. Words ending in /s/. 3. One-syllable words 4. Two-syllable words 5. 3 syllable words.
- Zip Around: Use 8 by 11 paper with the statement: I have a lowercase p. (double sided) and say, “Who has a capital t?”
